IMAM ALI QUOTES ABOUT QURAN
*ARABIC LESSON*
BISMILLAH.
If one does not know this, Allah set the grammar rules for Arabic within the Quran and Rasul Allah ﷺ gave Ijaza/permission to Imam Ali ibn Abi Talib to not only write down the Quran in it’s exact order, the first Sahabi/Ahlul Bayt to ever do so, Alayhis Salam, and he codified everything to the best of his ability.
*Imam Ali started seeing people of different mother tongues making huge mistakes within the Quran, because there were no markings within it, thus implementing a Good Bida/innovation of placing Harakat, Imam Ali asked one of his main students – the linguist, Abul Aswad Ad-Dua’li to codify the Quran for him.*
In fact, the linguist Ad-Du’ali created what we now know as Nahw/The Science of Arabic Grammar, which then evolved into Fusha and all the other sciences we see today.

*The Quranic recitation/Riwayah of ‘Asim (The most popular today being Hafs an Asim) goes back to Imam Ali ibn Abi Talib, through ‘Abdullah ibn ‘Abbas as well, the cousin of Prophet Muhammad.*
*Abdullah ibn Abbas was considered the second authority in regard to the Sciences of the Quran. He also was Imam Ali’s main Hadith student. That is one of the reasons his Tafsir/Explanation of the Quran is so good and well explained, for it’s because he went over the entire Quran numerous times with Mawla Ali and then he also had Hadith class with Mawla Ali, one on one. Can you imagine? La ilaha illa Allah.*
إِنَّا أَنزَلْنَاهُ قُرْآنًا عَرَبِيًّا لَّعَلَّكُمْ تَعْقِلُونَ
*“Indeed, We have sent it, an Arabic Quran so that you all may understand.”* (12:2)📜
In fact, Abdullahi ibn Abbas, Allah be pleased with him, narrated:
عَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ، قَالَ دَعَا لِي رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صلى الله عليه وسلم أَنْ يُؤْتِيَنِي اللَّهُ الْحِكْمَةَ مَرَّتَيْنِ . قَالَ أَبُو عِيسَى هَذَا حَدِيثٌ حَسَنٌ غَرِيبٌ مِنْ هَذَا الْوَجْهِ مِنْ حَدِيثِ عَطَاءٍ . وَقَدْ رَوَاهُ عِكْرِمَةُ عَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ
*“The Messenger of Allah ﷺ supplicated for me that Allah should give me knowledge of the Quran, and the understanding to judge justly, two times.”*
(Good Hadith – Sunan of Imam Al-Tirmidhi)📚
In a Sahih Hadith related by Imam Al-Hakim on the authoriuty of Umm Salamah, Allah be well pleased with her,
روى الحاكم عن أم سَلَمة قالت: سمعت رسول الله – صلى الله عليه وسلم – يقول: (عليّ مع القرآن والقرآن معه لا يفترقان حتَّى يرِدا عَلَيَّ الحوض) ثمَّ قال: هذا حديث صحيح الإسناد: وأبوسعيد التيمي هو: “عقيصا” ثقة مأمون ولم يُخرجاه.
*The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: “Ali is with the Quran and the Quran is with Ali.”*
قال ابن عباس: ما أخذت من تفسير القرآن فعن علي
*Abdullahi Ibn Abbas said: “Whatever interpretation of the Quran I took is from Ali.”*
