NOTHING AUTHENTIC CONCERNING THE RECITATION OF AYAT AL+KURSI AFTER THE PRESCRIBED PRAYERS
POPULAR HADITH THAT ARE NOT CONFIRMED
There is nothing authentic concerning the recitation of āyāt Al-Kursī after the prescribed prayers (or otherwise). This narration attributed to the Prophet (ﷺ) comes by way of the following Ṣaḥābah, but none are free from severe defects:
1. Abū Umāmah al-Bāhilī by way of:
- Muḥammad ibn Ḥimyar: A munkar rejected narration
- ˋAbd ibn Ḥumayd: Munkar both in isnād and matn.
2. ˋAbd-ul-Lāh ibn Masˋūd: A mursal ḍaˋīf narration
3. ˋAlī ibn Abī Ṭālib: A munkar narration
4. Al-Ḥasan ibn ˋAlī: A munkar narration
5. Al-Muġīrah ibn Shuˋbah: A muṭhlim (dark isnād)
6. ˋAbd-ul-Lāh ibn ˋAmr: A fabrication
7. Jābir ibn ˋAbd-il-Lāh, by way of:
- Ismāˋīl ibn Yaḥyā: A fabrication
- Jābir ibn Yazīd: A fabrication
- Abū Junayd aḍ-Ḍarīr: Baseless, both in isnād and matn
8. Anas ibn Mālik: A munkar narration
9. Aṣ-Ṣalṣāl ibn ad-Dalahmas: A munkar narration
If narrations are munkar or extremely weak, they cannot be used to strengthen each other. Therefore, no attention should be paid to those who say it is either ṣaḥīḥ or ḥasan due to supporting narrations (or in and of themselves).
For anyone wanting a detailed explanation of the weaknesses of the narrations, please see the attachment below.
